Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has hailed the influence on the club of Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher.
Shelvey says the veteran pair are a great combination.
"Stevie is a great role model," said Shelvey, whose career began in the Academies of Arsenal and West Ham before he joined Charlton.
"He's been doing it for club and country for years. The way he plays is fantastic and to have him as my captain is immense. He is a lot different to Jamie Carragher.
"You hear Carra a lot more on the pitch and that may leave some people saying 'why is Stevie captain and not Carra?' But he is just different.
"He leads by example. It's those times when we have been searching for a crucial goal and he's dug in to get us out of difficulty."
