AS Roma are ready to put Arsenal out of their misery and swoop for defender William Gallas.

It seems almost certain the France international will depart the Emirates Stadium this summer after rejecting offers from the Gunners who only want him to sign a short-term deal.

Roma boss Claudio Ranieri is an admirer of Gallas after last working with him at Chelsea six years ago and the Italian is poised to reunite himself with the 32-year old.

Roma are also believed to be interested in Cardiff City youngster Joe Ledley and will send sporting director Daniele Prade to London to hold talks with the pair in the coming days.
