Rene Meulensteen expects Manchester United chiefs will insist Louis van Gaal win the Premier League title at first attempt. Meulensteen left United last summer following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Meulensteen told Sky Sports: "Maybe there will be a few younger players coming through and the ones he wants to bring to really, really strengthen the squad to make sure he can have the best possible push to go and win.
"That is 100 per cent without a shadow of a doubt the objective. Louis Van Gaal will only come back to push to win the Premier League and that is at the same time where the danger lies because you need to be up to speed with the quality of the squad to be able to do that."
