Hull in freefall as Bruce now loses Agnew to Middlesbrough

Steve Agnew has left Hull City to become Aitor Karanka's No2 at Middlesbrough.

Agnew was "reluctantly" given the green light to move to the Riverside and yesterday said his farewells at City's training ground.

First-team coaches Keith Bertschin and Stephen Clemence will assist Bruce in the short-term but City are hopeful of appointing a successor in the coming weeks, says the Hull Daily Mail.

Agnew's departure calls time on a successful two-and-a-half year partnership with the Tigers.

Vice chairman Ehab Allam said: "Everyone at the club thanks Steve for his hard work and dedication over the past two and a half seasons.

"Whilst we are sad to see him leave we also must see this as an opportunity."
