England boss Roy Hodgson wants supporters to have confidence in his side's World Cup prospects as they prepare for their tournament opener against Italy. The Three Lions, who reached round two in 2010, boast a young squad and have not reached the semi-finals since 1990.
"What we want from back home is support, encouragement, for people to believe," said Hodgson.
"If it doesn't go that well for us, it's not for any other reasons than it didn't happen for us on the night."
