Manchester City midfielder Fernando has backed Eliaquim Mangala to continue improving.

A lot was expected when City splashed a whopping £32million to secure the services of Mangala from Porto over the summer but unfortunately, the defender has not even come close to justifying his price tag this season.

Nonetheless, the Frenchman did show fans what he is capable of by putting in a fine performance during City's 2-0 victory over West Ham United on Saturday and now teammate Fernando has backed the defender to eventually come good at the Etihad Stadium.

"It's always hard when you change teams to adapt to a new style of football, but we are now seeing the real Mangala," the Brazilian told the Manchester Evening News.

"And you will see his performances get better and better, and he will help the team more and more."
