Former Werder Bremen star Ailton Goncalves is on trial with struggling Chinese Super League club Chongqing Lifan.

The former German Player of the Year has impressed in his short time at the club and welcomes the challenge of potentially helping the club improve its standings.

"Chongqing are now at the bottom of the table but I think it's good for me to score goals and help them improve their standing," he told the local media.

"I will have more pressure if I play for the top teams."

The 36-year old has most recently being playing with Campinese in his homeland of Brazil and has also had stints with Schalke 04, Besiktas, Hamburg and Red Star Belgrade among others.
