Bolo Zenden took little comfort from his goal in Sunderland's 7-2 defeat to former club Chelsea.
Dutch midfielder Zenden stepped off the bench to try to galvanise his team-mates in the second half and did manage to weigh in with one of the Black Cats' two consolation goals.
"The goal is the furthest thing from my mind at the moment," Zenden told SAFC TV.
"A lot of the damage was already done in the first half. We had to be at our best to get something against the leaders but it was difficult after they scored early on.
"You could say we were overrun. We had a lot of trouble closing them down and containing their full-backs bombing on. They always had an extra man around the ball."
"If you play the big guns you have to make sure you keep a clean sheet for as long as possible and try and nick something.
"A lot of things went wrong - it's difficult to put my finger on one thing. There were mistakes for the goals but it's a team effort. We must defend all together and work as a unit."
