Wigan boss Martinez pleased to round out preseason with Spanish opposition

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez is pleased to be facing Spanish teams in preseason.

Latics announced yesterday that a friendly against Real Mallorca has been arranged for this Sunday at the DW Stadium.

The La Liga outfit will provide tough opposition for Martinez's men who head into their fifth pre-season game with an unbeaten record.

Latics' final friendly will see them travel to Celta Vigo, a week later on Sunday, August 12.

Martinez said: "Mallorca will represent a really good test as they are on the back of a tremendous second half to the season finishing eighth in La Liga, and (Joaquin) Caparros has developed a really strong side to play against and a very talented team with an exciting future.

"Their defensive record is very impressive and they are a very well balanced group which will present the perfect exercise for both teams in this pre-season."
