West Bromwich Albion midfielder Darren Fletcher thanked Manchester United fans for their reception upon his return to Old Trafford last night.

Fletcher, who left Old Trafford for the Baggies earlier this year, oversaw a win which came thanks to Chris Brunt's free-kick, which was deflected in by team-mate Jonas Olsson.

"The fans are fantastic," Fletcher told MUTV. "Sentiment comes at the end of your career, but I had a nice moment at the very end when I clapped everyone and it's something I'll remember.

"For me, it was important that I focused on my performance for 90 minutes. Afterwards, it was great to speak to some friends and to remember this a little bit, but thankfully for me we got the three points. I've enjoyed my day and that's the way it goes sometimes."
