We would be happy to take Aston Villa starlet Grealish - England boss Hodgson

England boss Roy Hodgson has revealed that he is keeping tabs on Aston Villa youngster Jack Grealish.

The Ireland U21 international is also eligible to play for the Green Army and is yet to decide on his international future but Hodgson wants the creative midfielder to represent the England national team.

Hodgson said: "He (Grealish) is young and has the qualities to make him a very good future international player but I don't want to put any pressure on him.

"He has two opportunities and the families are important. They have an Irish connection as well as English and it is up to them to decide what they want to do.

"When they decide I think whoever is the loser should respect it and wish him all the best. If he doesn't want to play or has doubts, don't play. We want people who want to be there - all international managers will say it's a hard thing to engender.

"I am speaking well of Jack Grealish and he deserves it because I have seen him a lot of late. The only game where perhaps he hasn't (played well) was against Southampton, where his whole team suffered. I would be surprised if he and his family don't make a decision when we kick off in the autumn with a new round of international matches.

"I understand this summer perfectly why he doesn't want to make the decision. Come the autumn, whoever gets him will be lucky."

England will face San Marino and Switzerland in Euro 2016 qualifiers in September.
