Udinese striker Di Natale full of pride over Italy captaincy

Udinese striker Antonio di Natale was full of pride after leading Italy to last night's friendly win over Sweden.

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini earned the winner on the night.

Di Natale said: "I was very pleased to wear the armband and it's the greatest thing I have achieved as a player. It was a wonderful night and everyone was happy.

"The Coach has always given me the chance to play, I tried to do my best at club and international level. I hope to carry on like this and be one of the 23 in South Africa."

Di Natale is currently top scorer in Serie A and proved his versatility again tonight in Cesena.

"In the second half I played wide of a 4-4-2 and it went well. It was a memorable evening and an honour to be captain of Italy.

"Playing closer to the striker gives me more of a chance to approach the goal, but I have been playing in a 4-3-3 for many years and so whatever the Coach needs is fine."
