Tottenham end run of four away defeats

Jonathan Woodgate scored a late winner for Tottenham in a 2-1 win at Hull City. Aaron Lennon put Tottenham ahead at the KC Stadium early in the first half of an entertaining game.

But Hull hit back and restored parity before half time through Michael Turner following an error by Spurs keeper Carlo Cudicini.

Both sides then hit the woodwork and with the match seemingly destined for a draw Woodgate, on his 50th appearance for Tottenham, headed the vital winner with four minutes remaining.

After a bright start to their first ever Premiership campaign Hull have now only won once in their last 17 games and find themselves embroiled in a relegation scrap.

Spurs' boss Harry Redknapp told Setanta Sports his side were good for the win, despite their vulnerability to Hull's aerial threat.

"Yea I think we deserved a win," Redknapp said. "We upped the pace but they made it hard for us by closing us down and threatening us from set-plays and long-throws as well as creating terrific chances.

"We're not a big side, that's the problem. We got two or three good headers but we run out after a while."

On the three points, Redknapp added, "It's a massive result and puts us in a much better position. It will give us confidence for the week now. The reason why we rested players in the UEFA cup was vindicated this evening as we won a game in the Premier League.

"We've got to play games on the Monday, the Thursday, and also the Sunday, so it's about playing and resting," he said.

"But a win today has been a good start."
