Two second half goals ensured Tottenham deservedly won 2-0 against their London rivals West Ham at Upton Park. Skipper Ledley King opened the scoring with a towering downward header from an Aaron Lennon cross.
Spurs should have added to their lead before substitute Jamie O'Hara sealed the points with a late strike from distance.
However it was under-fire keeper Heurelho Gomes who was the hero with a marvellous double save from a rare Hammers attack just moments before O'Hara's strike.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp was not only pleased with the three points but the manner in which it was obtained.
He told Setanta Sports.
"I'm delighted, it was a big game for us.
"We are now back in the pack as opposed to being back down there.
"It was a good performance, we passed the ball well, created chances and well deserved the win.
"We were strong defensively and the keeper did well. It will have done his confidence a power of good."
