Stoke City Chairman Peter Coates has dismissed rumours linking veteran striker Peter Crouch with a move to A-League side Newcastle Jets.

Despite signing a new contract only last month, Crouch has been constantly linked with a move away from the Britannia Stadium over the past few weeks and more recently, it had been claimed that the former England international could be heading for a new adventure to Australia by joining the Jets at the end of the season.

However, Coates has rubbished such claims and simply laughed off the reports linking the striker to Australia.

"I do have relatives in Australia and I recently sent them a signed Peter Crouch shirt so maybe that's where the story has come from," he revealed to the Stoke Sentinel.
