Spain coach Vicente del Bosque explained hooking striker David Villa during their World Cup win over Australia.
The departing Atletico Madrid forward struck in the 3-0 win, but was visibly upset upon his substitution.
"He (Villa) certainly seemed very annoyed. He said it was his last game, but I didn't know that. I'm sure he was upset," said Del Bosque.
"All I was thinking about is that it was time to kill off the game and we did that."
