Son puts sympathy aside after scoring Leverkusen hat-trick against Hamburg

Heung-min Son admitted it wasn't nice to see his former club Hamburg SV lose on the weekend but was over the moon after netting a hat-trick for Bayer Leverkusen.

The South Korean international scored a treble of goals and provided an assist in Leverkusen's 5-3 win over his former club at the BayArena and after the game he was revelling in his best game for the team he joined in the summer.

"That was my first Bundesliga hat-trick. I'm delighted and I definitely wanted the ball as a keepsake," he said.

"I'd been looking forward to this game since the start of the season - a chance to play against my former club.

"I'm a bit sorry to see them beaten but I play for Bayer Leverkusen now so I can still be glad that we won."

Leverkusen boss Sami Hyypia was also happy for Son but suggested his side would have to improve defensively in the future.

"I'm very happy that Sonny scored three goals and that we won the game but of course for the spectators it was a nice game to watch," he offered.

"For me on the bench it wasn't too good because we go to every game not to concede any goals but we conceded three easy goals."
