Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer remains suspicious of club owner Mike Ashley.

Ashley broke his silence yesterday ahead of victory over West Ham United.

Speaking on BBC's Match of the Day, Shearer said: "Stop selling your best players, play your best team in cup competitions.

"Give the fans a little bit of hope. There was a time (before the January transfer window) when Newcastle didn't sign a player for 18 months. So that isn't really acceptable."
