Shearer can't see England place for Man Utd's Owen

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer can't see Manchester United striker Michael Owen making England's World Cup squad.

Speaking at the launch of A Knight to Remember, a new DVD to raise funds for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, Toon legend Shearer said: "Wayne Rooney will go, I'm pretty sure Jermain Defoe will go and probably Peter Crouch as he gives you another option. Then, maybe, there's Emile Heskey.

"So there's three or four vying for the other one or two places. Darren Bent, Carlton Cole, then Michael, Gabriel Agbonlahor and Theo Walcott.

"Like it or not, forwards are judged on goals and the reason we're talking about Darren Bent is because he's scored goals."
