Scunthorpe survive marathon FA Cup penalty shootout against courageous Worcester

Scunthorpe United are into the FA Cup Third Round after overcoming non-league Worcester City in a marathon penalty shootout in last night's replay.

Miguel Llera's spot-kick brought an end to non-league Worcester's fairytale run in the FA Cup in extraordinary fashion as Scunthorpe won their second-round replay 14-13 on penalties.

The Spaniard, who had a chance to win it before the sudden-death spot kicks but saw his effort saved by Nathan Vaughan, held his nerve on the 32nd penalty of the match to knock out the Conference North side, who had held the Iron to a 1-1 scoreline after extra time.

As had been the case in their first encounter, Worcester had earlier come from behind to level the match - former Manchester United trainee Sean Geddes cancelling out Paddy Madden's first-half goal.
