AS Roma president Thomas di Benedetto insists Daniele de Rossi will sign a new contract.

Talks regarding a renewal have stalled over personal terms, but the American is hopeful that the club won't lose the Roman on a free transfer in the summer.

"I'm optimistic that he'll stay," the new owner declared. "Director general Franco Baldini is looking after the situation personally.

"I can't say too much because negotiations are continuing, but I'm confident and I have faith in the ability of Baldini."
