Roma chief Daniele Prade has revealed Chelsea have made an offer for Daniele de Rossi.

"Chelsea wanted De Rossi, but we refused their offer," director of sport Pradè told Radio Radio TV.

Fans were upset when fellow hometown talent Alberto Aquilani was sold to Liverpool for £18m to balance the books.

"Will there be other sales? We are a club of Roma fans, so if there are departures, they will only be for truly important sums.

"Balancing the books is important and if needed we will try to cash in."
