Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos felt former Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer deserved to finish second in the Ballon d'Or voting.
Kroos was happy Cristiano Ronaldo won the award, but felt Neuer should have finished ahead of Barcelona star Lionel Messi.
"It's surprising and a little unfair that Neuer finished behind Messi. I thought it would be a close call between Manuel and Cristiano.
"Manuel Neuer was the best goalkeeper by a long way. Cristiano was the best outfield player. It was between the two of them really. Manuel would have been worthy winner but Cristiano deserved it too," said Kroos.
