QPR's Phillips emerges on Southampton radar

Southampton will reportedly be eyeing a move for QPR's assist king Matt Phillips in the summer.

Despite struggles at Loftus Road this season, winger Phillips has managed to impress and with the Hoops seemingly heading for the Championship again, the Scotland international is widely expected to depart west London at the end of the campaign.

Phillips boasts an incredible assist record of seven since the turn of the year (which is only bettered by Lionel Messi in the top five leagues in Europe) and such form has seen a couple of clubs courting the 24-year old.

Now according to the Daily Mirror, it has been claimed that the Saints are planning a swoop for Phillips.

Winger Eljero Elia is set to return back to parent club Werder Bremen following the conclusion of his loan deal and manager Ronald Koeman is said to have identified Phillips as an ideal replacement.
