Portland Timbers owner Paulson cops MLS fine

Portland Timbers owner Merritt Paulson has been fined $25,000 for 'inappropriate conduct directed at officials and through use of social media'.

MLS Commissioner Don Garber has fined the Timbers owner after he confronted the referees at half-time and also used social media sites to criticise referees during and after his side's 1-1 home draw with DC United on the weekend.

A furious Paulson directly challenged the match officials at the break after a questionable handball lead to a penalty and was critical of their performance post-match.

It appears as though the Timbers have accepted the sanction and will not appeal or comment on the situation.
