Pele has backed Stoke City to beat the drop this season.

Stoke, who were promoted back into the top flight in May following a 23 year absence, face Bolton at the Reebok Stadium in little over a month's time.

And speaking ahead of Saturday's Banks XI vs Pele XI charity football match, the Brazilian star claims the club can upset the odds by steering clear of relegation.

Pele said: "It's going to be difficult, sometimes when a team go up they are already prepared for the league, but what you always need is some experienced players.

"They need the experience because the level of football is a lot different."
