Notts County fans are unhappy with reports linking David Platt with the manager's post.
He has been named among the favourites alongside Neil Warnock and Peter Taylor to succeed the sacked Ian McParland - to the dismay of fans.
Iris Smith, chair of the Notts County Supporters Club, said: "Oh my dear God, no. Please, please not David Platt.
"I am sure I speak for every supporter when I say that. He has never really proved himself as a manager and certainly didn't during his two years at Forest.
"He is not even called Platt by our fans because we are very dyslexic!"
Former County manager Warnock said: "You can never say never about anything in this business."
Taylor said: "I want to get back as soon as I can."
