Newcastle want Chelsea young gun Bamford, Hull defender Chester

Newcastle United are eager to strengthen this summer and have reportedly targeted a pair of talented British players.

According to the Daily Star, the Magpies have Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford on their radar and will look to offer him a season-long loan deal.

Bamford, 21, spent the recently-completed season in the Championship with Middlesbrough and took out the Player of the Year award for the division after scoring 17 goals.

He will return to Stamford Bridge this summer but there are persistent rumours that he will be sent out on loan again.

Also on the radar of the Toon is defender James Chester who is being linked with a move away from Hull City following their relegation from the Premier League.

26-year old Chester, who has played five times for Wales, made 23 starts for Steve Bruce's Tigers in England's top flight last term.
