Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul says Ajax midfielder Vurnon Anita is ready to play in the Premier League.

Toon are closing on a deal for the Dutchman.

"I've played with him since the Under-15 squads," Krul told NUsport.

"I think he's ready for a move to the Premier League. His skill in the midfield and dueling is good enough for England.

"I understood he has to reach an agreement himself, but I think we can use a versatile player like him very well."
