Newcastle United are eyeing Cardiff City striker Jay Bothroyd.
The Sunday Sun says the former Arsenal, Charlton and Wolves hitman is the Championship's top scorer with 11 goals and has been linked with Birmingham and Liverpool. But Newcastle are also monitoring his status with a view to pouncing if he doesn't agree a new deal with the Bluebirds.
A big striker with pace who is also good in the air, Bothroyd would provide something different for a Toon squad short of options below Andy Carroll and Shola Ameobi.
