Former Real Madrid chief Pedja Mijatovic believes their form slide is due to Sergio Ramos' struggles. Real limped into the Champions League quarterfinals after losing 4-3 to Schalke last night.
Mijatovic argued: "His (Ramos) drop has affected the leadership at Real Madrid, because aside from what he brings in football, he is a leader.
"Ramos always gives everything to make his team work. (Raphael ) Varane has much potential but I do not like to compare players, you can't find a (Fernando) Hierro each year, he's unique, do not compare.
"When Ramos plays, everything is secure.
"(Gerard) Piqué played great when he had (Carles) Puyol next door and when he left he had a downturn."
