Liverpool's Gerrard, Everton's Jagielka to unite for tribute on 26th anniversary of Hillsborough

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and Everton skipper Phil Jagielka are set to release 96 balloons at the Hillsborough Memorial Service today on the 26th anniversary of the tragedy.

Former Liverpool and Everton players John Aldridge and Graham Stuart will also deliver readings.

The service will be emotional for Gerrard, 34, as it will be his last as a Liverpool player before he joins MLS champions LA Galaxy in the summer.

Around 8,000 fans are expected to turn up at Anfield to pay their tribute as football pays its respects to the 96 Reds supporters who lost their lives at Hillsborough in 1989.
