Liverpool, Tottenham target Ings confirms Burnley departure

Liverpool and Tottenham target Danny Ings has confirmed his departure from Burnley after spending four years at the club.

The 22-year old's contract runs out in the summer and he will leave under the Bosman free agency ruling, his availability attracting the interest of both the Reds and more recently Spurs.

The Clarets can expect to receive somewhere in the region of £4m-£5m in compensation for Ings who joined from Bournemouth as a teenager in 2011.

"It's a sad time for me," he said. "Burnley Football Club helped me mature from a boy to a man and I can't thank them everyone from the club enough, from the board to the staff at the training ground and the staff at the club.

"It's been a fantastic journey, so of course it would be upsetting for it to come to an end.

"But that's football and it happens with every player. I thank everyone from the fans to the staff, everyone's been fantastic."

Ings scored 11 goals for Burnley in his debut season in the Premier League.
