Former Liverpool midfielder Steve McMahon says Brendan Rodgers should be SACKED. The Reds are currently languishing in fifth position in the league, four points behind fourth placed Manchester United.

"You can't go from second and almost winning the Premiership to fifth maybe sixth in the league in one season after spending £100m plus," he told ESPN.

"Ok there's the excuses that they make that [Luis] Suarez has left and [that] [Daniel] Sturridge has been injured but you still had £100m to spend.

"Now you need value for money and I don't think Liverpool have had value for money with those players.

"It's clear to see that the performance level for Liverpool haven't been near good enough."
