Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher insists they do not need an experienced signing to replace departing skipper Steven Gerrard.

While Carragher says the Reds may benefit from experience after Gerrard's departure, he feels age doesn't matter.

"Maybe they need some experience but it's about getting good players," Carragher told Sky Sports.

"It doesn't really matter what age you are as long as you are doing well - but that's something the manager and the board will come together and look to sort out."
