LA Galaxy striker Robbie Keane will head back to former club Tottenham to train over the winter whilst Aston Villa are interested in a short-term loan.
The 31-year old Republic of Ireland captain joined the Galaxy from Spurs during the summer and helped the club to the MLS Cup but is now back in North London to keep fit until January 20.
Meanwhile, Villa boss Alex McLeish is showing considerable interest in bringing in Keane for a short-term deal ahead of the 2012 MLS season which kicks off in March.
Keane wants to stay sharp ahead of the European Championships in the summer and could be persuaded to link up with Republic of Ireland teammates Shay Given and Richard Dunne at Villa Park but terms are yet to be agreed with the player or the Galaxy.
