Kompany says Man City determined to win FA Cup

Vincent Kompany says Manchester City are determined to finish the season with silverware.

While City's defence of their Premier League crown is already destined to end in failure, Kompany insists that there is still much to play for - with an FA Cup semi-final date with Chelsea looming a week on Sunday.

He said: "Collectively, it is disappointing. At the same time, I feel there is still a lot to look forward to. Whichever way we finish this season might set us up for the next one.

"I remember the way we finished the season when we won the FA Cup in 2011. We finished on 71 points, equal with Chelsea, which was a massive boost for us at the time. We secured a place in the Champions League and won the FA Cup.

"Last year we went on to win the title. The end of one season has an impact on how you start the next. The semi-final with Chelsea is going to be a big game, it will be a big priority.

"But any semi-final is massive. We could be 20 points ahead or 20 points behind, it doesn't really matter.

"We will just put ourselves in the right condition to be competitive."
