Klinsmann earns first win as USA manager

At the fourth attempt Jurgen Klinsmann oversaw the USA defeat of Honduras 1-0 in Miami for his first win in charge of the national team. Fulham striker Clint Dempsey scored in the 36th minute and Everton keeper Tim Howard made several key saves in a 1-0 friendly victory on Saturday night.

"It's huge for all of us. You don't ever want to go a long period of time without winning," Howard said. "We performed well, I think, and we're trying to set a foundation, but ultimately you have to win. That was the focus coming in."

"This team is hungry for success," Klinsmann said. "They want to do well and get the results right.

"I think after 20, 25 minutes we took over," Klinsmann added. "We created a lot more chances and I had the feeling that it was just a question of time until we score that first goal."
