Kalou ready for Chelsea first team when required

Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou insists he is fit enough to return to action after returning from the African Nations Cup in Angola. Blues coach Carlo Ancelotti believes the Kalou and Didier Drogba need to overcome the effects of travelling before returning to first-team football.

"I am fit to play, I didn't pick up any injuries, I am feeling well and have a lot of confidence," said Kalou.

"I thought I had a good game for Chelsea against Fulham before we left and now I come back in good form."

However Kalou, who had an outstanding game against Algeria in the African Nations Cup quarter-finals, knows he faces a hard task ahead of him as he looks to get back into Ancelotti's first-choice team.

"I watched some of the games and I think that the way the team played shows we are in the best form," added Kalou.

"I wouldn't think we would keep winning games, every team has its moments where they are not playing well, Barcelona, Real Madrid, and we had our difficult moments, but we are back in a good one.

"Now we need to keep winning and taking points, because that's how we win the title.

"In Africa we were lucky because we had the Premier League on TV, so I watched the Sunderland game (Chelsea won 7-2), which was amazing. We were in touch with England all the time.

"The team has been playing a different system and with the 4-3-2-1, we played it in the second-half against Fulham in December and played much better.

"It is a great way of playing, everyone has been at their best and it is nice to watch. I have been here almost four years and I have played in every system, so I know that I can adapt to it."
