Gold Coast United recruit Perchtold close to gaining clearance

Peter Perchtold is getting closer and closer to obtaining his International Transfer Certificate.

The 26-year old German midfielder has joined A-League club Gold Coast United from FC Nuremberg but is not yet eligible to play down under.

Perchtold arrived in Queensland a couple of weeks ago and has been reduced to training with his new club but he may be cleared to play against the Melbourne Heart tomorrow or the Newcastle Jets on Saturday.

"The last two weeks was hard just training and watching them play," Perchtold told the Gold Coast Bulletin.

"I hope that for Wednesday I'll be able to play but that is something I cannot decide.

"We've done all the things we could do and now we can just hope and pray that it's good for Wednesday."

United coach Miron Bleiberg revealed that as soon as Perchtold is available, he will come straight into the starting line-up.

"If Peter is available he will be on the starting team," he said. "It's either he starts or nothing."
