Fulham boss Jol admits Marseille striker Gignac remains top transfer target

Fulham boss Martin Jol admits a January move for Olympique Marseille striker Andre-Pierre Gignac remains on the agenda.

The French frontman was a key priority for Jol to bring to Craven Cottage and was close to wrapping up a loan deal on transfer deadline day.

However the Ligue 1 side pulled out of the deal after missing out on the signing of Juventus striker Amauri.

Despite the setback, Jol has hinted that he may put in a further bid for the 25-year-old in the New Year.

"We had the player here and thought we would get him on loan, but Marseille decided they needed him back," he told the Fulham and Hammersmith Chronicle.

"We have established a good relationship with the player and club, so we will see what happens in the future."
