Former Aston Villa and Stoke City midfielder Lee Hendrie has launched his own academy.

Hendrie has joined forces with a Midlands non-league club to help develop young footballers.

He has helped set up The Lee Hendrie and Paget Rangers Academy, based at the Hollyfields ground in Erdington, reports The Sentinel.

The launch event saw more than 80 16-18 year olds take part in trials conducted by Hendrie and Paget first team coach Martin Asante.

The academy is being run as a partnership, with South & City College Birmingham also involved.
