Jamie Carragher has praised Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood for the job he has done with Christian Benteke of late.

The Belgian striker has been in scintillating form for Villa, scoring eight goals in his past six outings, which Carragher indicates is hot form leading into Sunday's FA Cup semi-final against his old club Liverpool.

"He's been a brilliant player for Villa but they've always been fighting relegation when he's been there and he's always been the one who's dragged them out," he said on Sky Sports.

"There's no doubt Tim Sherwood deserves a lot of credit for what he's done for Benteke."
