Everton boss Martinez: We have important summer market

Everton boss Roberto Martinez admits they're facing a massive summer market.

With Everton having finished the season 11th in the Premier League table, and with at least four members of the squad - Sylvain Distin, Antolin Alcaraz, Christian Atsu and Aaron Lennon - leaving, Martinez knows that getting it right in the transfer market could be key, if the Toffees are to move back up the league next season.

"I think it is an important summer," he told the Liverpool Echo. "It becomes about recruitment and that's the priority.

"I think we are very clear in what we need. We have found players that we want and it becomes a process about trying to make those targets a possibility and make them Everton players.

"We are very excited about the future. I think the work from this season has made us stronger and more mature.

"If anything, going through the difficulties of this campaign has made us hungrier for success. We want to give our fans something they can be extremely satisfied with, and clearly this summer the recruitment process is vital."
