Newcastle United boss John Carver retains hope of being appointed permanent manager this summer.
A derby win over Sunderland would go some way to landing the post.
"I'd like to think some of the stuff I've done is already on the way to making me [permanent head coach]," said Carver.
"But in the eyes of the fans, if you win a derby game, it's massive. I'm not saying everything else is forgotten, but it certainly helps your case."
