Carragher won't be surprised if Redknapp makes management return

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher isn't surprised that former QPR boss Harry Redknapp is already talking about a football return.

He wrote in the Daily Mail: "I can understand he has a love for the game and enjoys working with players. Perhaps there is a financial side in that he wants to look after his family's future, but there is also going to be something else driving that determination to find a new role.

"Being so willing to throw himself back into work reminded me of several conversations I had with Gareth Southgate, Gordon Strachan and Roy Keane while we worked as part of ITV's team at Euro 2012.

"All three men had been recently sacked. Whenever we began talking about management, all they told were negative stories about the job, about demands of modern players, the complications that come with owners and the demands placed on them by the media.

"Listening to them initially, you would have thought they would never want to go back, so you can imagine my surprise when I asked whether they had ambitions to do it again. Their response was unanimous: they all said 'yes'."
