Cardiff's Miller: Wolves' Fletcher is only man who can end his Scotland hiatus

Scotland striker Kenny Miller is of the belief that Steven Fletcher only need pick up the phone to end his international pause.

The Wolves star has not played for the Scottish team since he texted manager Craig Levein telling him not to select him last season.

But with 2014 World Cup qualifiers on the horizon, Cardiff City's Miller suggests Fletcher only has to get in contact with Levein in order to end the hiatus.

"Steven is the one who made the decision. He's the one who said that he didn't want to be considered for selection," said Miller who will captain the team in a friendly against USA in Florida this weekend.

"If anyone is going to change that, it's got to be him.

"If he wants to phone the gaffer and say he's made a mistake and wants another chance, I'm sure Craig would say 'Right, that's fine. I'll consider you again'.

"I'm sure they probably did urge him to think about it at the start and not to rush into any decision. It's up to him.

"If it was me, and I wanted back, I'd pick up the phone.

"If he wants to play for Scotland again, I'm sure it could still happen.

"He's a top player. But if he wants someone to put an arm around him and coax him back, I don't think that's going to happen.

"He has to want to be with us."
