Celtic defender Gary Caldwell has welcomed the arrival of Cardiff City centre-half Glen Loovens, saying that competition can only be good for the squad.
However, Caldwell believes the capture of the Dutchman will offer some much needed depth to the squad.
"I'm sure the manager knows what he needs. We've only got three centre-halves at the minute," said the Scotland international.
"He looked very good, he's a big centre-half who likes to play and so I'm sure he will bring a lot to the squad.
"I think another one is needed and I'm sure he will need to fight for his place when he gets here."
