Burnley midfielder George Boyd has expressed his disappointment at not being awarded a penalty during the 2-0 defeat to Southampton on Saturday.
Despite putting in a very good performance, Burnley eventually lost out to the Saints but the outcome of the match could have been a lot different if referee Roger East had awarded the Clarets a penalty when the scores were 0-0 during the first half, as Jose Fonte seemed to have fouled Boyd inside the box.
Replays showed that Burnley were certainly hard done by and now Boyd has said that not being awarded a penalty for a clear stamp was disappointing.
Boyd said: "Definitely. I've checked him and I've got a chance of shooting. He's stamped on my foot, so it's disappointing."
