Brisbane Roar striker Kosta Barbarouses was able to cut Melbourne Victory star Robbie Kruse's A-League Golden Boot lead to just one goal on the weekend. The talented New Zealander helped himself to a double in the 2-0 win over North Queensland Fury on Saturday night to take his season tally to nine goals.
He has now scored in seven matches this term and the brace was his second, following up the double in the 4-0 win over former club Wellington Phoenix back in early November.
Barbarouses has this season emerged as one of the most promising young players in the A-League and his recent form will surely have New Zealand national team coach Ricki Herbert considering him for his next call-up.
Joining the 20-year old on nine goals was Adelaide United frontman Sergio van Dijk who found the target late in the first half of his side's 2-1 loss to Melbourne Heart on Friday night.
